Bodywork & Massage

Everyone knows that massage can support blood & lymphatic circulation, activation of the parasympathetic nervous system which facilitates relaxation of body and mind, and the release of areas of sustained muscle contraction driven by the nervous system (ineffectively called ‘muscle knots’ or ‘trigger points’).

Mobilisation and stretching, moreover, also support activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, increases range of motion in our joints, and reinforces the cultivation of a growing over-all feeling of well-being.

All these techniques, in combination with breathwork, comprise the spectrum of what we call: bodywork.

I was fortunate enough to experience the benefits of learning massage and physiotherapy in a playful manner. Yet, why do many of us return disappointed from a physiotherapy, bodywork, or massage treatment?

In my experience, the answer lies in the amount of passion that the bodyworker has for her/his vocation. For whereas I found physiotherapy education much too mechanic, which is to say, not at all holistic; I found out that for bodywork to be effective, the bodyworker needs to be knowledgeable and passionate not only about the human body, but at least in a similar amount about the human mind.

Since one’s own mind provides the quickest gateway to gain knowledge of the human mind in general, I have studied the warp and woof of my own mind extensively (and still do). In addition,  I made extensive studies of mythology, religion, wisdom traditions, and psychology, in order to gain more insight into that fantastic and elusive phenomenon we call: mind.

By means of this holistic approach, and already having gained much insights in my own light and dark sides respectively, I wish to apply my knowledge, skills, and passion for bodywork, to support you in gaining knowledge and insight into your own body and mind. For the better we know ourselves, the more balanced we can go through life. And the more balanced we can go through life, the more jolly we become.

Hence: Jolly Equilibrium.
